Phishing Report Button

You'll notice there is a new button in Outlook when you open messages:

This is part of a new anti-phishing system we've recently implemented, if for any reason you suspect that an email you received is attempting to get sensitive information from you - your username, password, or sensitive business information - go ahead and click this button!

The email will be submitted and assessed, if it's found to be legitimate then no harm done, you'll simply receive confirmation that it was legitimate, but if it is found to be malicious then the emails will be removed from everyone's inbox before it can pose any further threat.

This button is also available on Outlook Online and Outlook on your phone, if you use either of those.

Just remember, there's no risk if the email turns out to be legitimate - so if you suspect that an emails is trying to get you to divulge sensitive information, even a little, go ahead and click the Report phishing button.

Another thing to keep in mind is if you see this warning at the top of an email:

That means that the email address isn't recognised, so be extra cautious when dealing with the email. Again if you are unsure it's best to report it as phishing, and even if it does turn out to be legitimate no harm is done.
