Importing Settings from Chrome to Edge
As Microsoft Edge is a Chromium-based browser, like Google Chrome, all settings are effectively interchangeable and only need to be imported from one browser to the other. Because Microsoft
want you to move to their browser they provide a tool to do exactly this.
Here I have Google Chrome open:

It's not signed into a Google Account to sync (these cannot be migrated between browsers anyway, as Chrome will need a Google account and Edge, unsurprisingly, will need a Microsoft account), but I do have:
- A bookmark saved
- A username and password saved
- A couple of extensions (one which is Microsoft supported (Microsoft Editor) and one which is not Microsoft supported (GIPHY for Gmail) - this difference will be important later! )
- My search engine is set to DuckDuckGo
- I have enabled the home button which will take me to https://start.duckduckgo.com/
To start the process, open Microsoft Edge:

Click on the user profile icon (to the left of the ··· menu) and click the Manage profile settings option.
This will bring you to the Your profile screen:

Click on the Import browser data option.
This will bring you to the Import browser data screen:

Click on the Choose what to import button to start the migration process.
You'll now see the Import browser data tool appear:

Firstly, click the Import from box and choose Google Chrome.
You'll now be asked which Profile to import from:

Click on the Profile box.
There will be one of the following:
- One named for you
- One named after your Google account address, or
- One named "Person 1" or similar.
This will be depending on how you have setup Google Chrome. In any case there should only be one profile to pick, so please pick this one.
You can now review what to import:

There's no real reason not to import everything, so go ahead and click the Import button.
Once the import is complete you will see a couple of things:

Firstly, a confirmation that the import is All done! If this is all you have on screen, then you can go ahead and click Done to finalise the process.
You may also have an additional prompt on screen if you have any extensions that are not Microsoft supported (remember what I mentioned at the beginning of the guide?), Edge has its own extension store, similar to the Google Extension store. However, it has fewer extensions overall but they are higher quality than the thousands (millions?) on offer by Google. But this also means there's a good chance one of your extensions may need to be enabled in Edge. If you do see the message stating that your extensions require "Consent to turn on" go ahead and click the Turn on extensions button.
To enable any non-Microsoft supported extensions you will need to Allow extensions from other stores, if you trust the extension you used in Google Chrome then go ahead and click the Allow button:

Check Microsoft Edge is set as your Default Browser
One last setting to check is to ensure Microsoft Edge is your default web browser. To check/change this setting, click on the ··· menu and click the Settings option.
This will open the Settings screen:

In the left-hand sidebar, click the Default browser option.
The very first option you'll see here is Default browser, and the option to Make default. Click this.
In most cases this is all you will need to do, but in some cases you may be brought to the Windows Default apps window, in here you can choose which browser to set as the default.
