On your computer you will see a new app has been installed in the start menu, called "Remote Desktop". You can search for it (by typing "remote desktop" in the open start menu) or look through the start menu (if you click the letter at start of each group of apps you can select to jump straight to 'R') to find the icon that looks like this:

Once you have found the icon, click it to launch the app:

Assuming this is the first time you have opened the app you'll see a couple of options displayed:

1. Subscribe

2. Subscribe with URL

Wherever possible we will set you up so you can just go for the "Subscribe" option, which is the quicker and easier of the two. If, for any reason, you need to use the "Subscribe with URL" option we will inform you of this ahead of time and give you the details you need.

To proceed, click on the "Subscribe" button. When you do, you'll be asked to "Sign in":

Type in your email address here, and click Next. You'll now be asked to type in your password, do so and then click Sign in:

You'll be asked to "Stay signed in to all your apps":

This is typically a safe option to choose, so go ahead and click "OK". After a few moments the Remote Desktop app will load your AVD connection, and you'll see a computer icon appear.

To connect to the AVD, double-click on the blue computer icon in the Remote Desktop app. Once you do, you'll be asked to type in your password again, if you are the only person who uses your computer you can safely choose the option to "Remember me", which will save your password:

In either case, click "OK". You'll see a Windows sign in screen (this may take a minute or two the first time you sign in while it sets up your user profile). You'll soon be taken to a desktop which looks similar to many computers you'll come across:

When you're done working, click on the start menu, then click on the user icon, and the "Sign out" option:
